Yes. Individuals coming into the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC) subsystem are screened for OUD. If they meet criteria, they are referred for further screening. If eligible and agreeing to treatment they may be placed on buprenorphine, methadone, or naltrexone.

Via the partnership between OhioMHAS, DRC and our contracted vendor the incarcerated men and women in all of Ohio’s DRC facilities are eligible for participation in our MAT program.

Yes, individuals being released do have options for continued MAT in the community through either Medicaid or through our OhioMHAS Community Transition Program.

A few of the primary differences between incarcerated/non-incarcerated individuals is the ability to receive take-home medications and the incarcerated individual is required to complete counseling through ODRC counselors to remain in the program.
